Mission Statement

Central Line Touring is a collective of professional actors, writers and directors based in Nottingham.

The company creates new texts and devises new performance, embracing many influences. It also re-interprets classic dramas, making them relevant to current social, political and artistic contexts. The imperative is to take risks and to be rigorous in the production of challenging, enjoyable and relevant work that is accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

Central Line Touring produce stimulating, engaging and accessible theatre that has as one of its central aims the achievement of a real increase in theatre audiences. Through our policy of working with a wide range of artists we also aim to increase participation in theatre and in the arts generally. This is achieved through the many contacts the company already has, the work experience of its members and through new and developing collaborations with regional producing venues,

presenting houses and other regional companies.


ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:

Kim Gillespie's most recent directing credits have been Cold Comfort Farm, a professional/amateur collaboration at The Garrick, Lichfield. Much Ado About Nothing - also at The Garrick. The Country Wager performed by a community cast in the courtyard of Staunton Harold Hall in Leicestershire, It’s Not Unusual at the Leicester Haymarket, Tartuffe, The Beaux’ Stratagem and Hedda Gabler (Lichfield Garrick), all for Central Line Touring of which he is Artistic Director. He has previously been an Associate Director at the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival and for six consecutive years took productions to Edinburgh. . Acting credits include Heartbeat and Certainties of the Heart for German Television.
